For diabetes type 2, we generally start with lifestyle modifications and oral hypoglycemic drugs first. After long term of use oral medicine, some needs the insulin. Its not due to the use of antidiabetic medicine but is itself a pathophysiology of the disease after sometime may be insulin dependent.
