Tizatab contains Tizanidine as active constituent. Tizanidine is a short-acting muscle relaxer. It works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Tizanidine is used to treat spasticity by temporarily relaxing muscle tone.

Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the tablet whole by mouth. You can take it with or without food. Don't crush, chew or break the tablet. Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.
To discontinue Tizatab, decrease dose slowly to minimize the risk of withdrawal and rebound hypertension, tachycardia, and hypertonia
Mode of Action
Tizanidine is a central alpha-2-adrenergic receptor agonist and presumably reduces spasticity by increasing presynaptic inhibition of motor neurons.The overall effect of these actions is thought to reduce facilitation of spinal motor neurons.

- Spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury or disease.

Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to tizanidine or to any of the excipients
- Impaired liver function
Precautions and Warning
- Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding woman before taking this medicine to understand the risk and benefit ratio.
- Talk to your doctor about past medical history like kidney problem or liver problem before taking this medicine
- Don't double the dose for the missed one.
- Complete the prescribed dose and duration of medicine.
- It may cause dizziness or drowsiness so avoid any activity that requires concentration unless you know how the medicine acts on you.
- Avoid drinking alcohol as it can worsen the side effects.
