Dose and Direction of Use
- Use the SWFI provided to reconstitute
- The reconstituted solution must be used immediately.
- STACEF can be given as both I.V./I.M. injection
Mode of Action
- Ceftriaxone Sodium binds with bacterial transpeptidase and inhibits the cross-linking of Peptidoglycan.
- This leads to bacterial cell wall synthesis inhibition and thus, death of the bacteria.
- Ceftriaxone Sodium has bactericidal activity.

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to penicillin, cephalosporins or other components of drug
Precautions and Warning
- Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category B
- Nursing Mothers: Caution (excreted in breast milk)
- Requirement of monitoring of prothrombin time in patients with impaired vitamin K synthesis or low vitamin K stores
- In Hyperbilirubinemic neonates
