Netformin-850 is the brand name of Metformin HCl 850 mg tablet. It is an oral diabetes medicine that controls blood sugar level. It is not used for Type 1 diabetes.

Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the tablet whole by mouth as directed by your doctor.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to metformin
- Any type of acute metabolic acidosis (such as lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis)
- Diabetic pre-coma
- Severe renal failure (GFR <30 mL/min)
- Acute conditions with the potential to alter renal function such as: dehydration, severe infection, shock
- Disease which may cause tissue hypoxia (especially acute disease, or worsening of chronic disease) such as: decompensated heart failure, respiratory failure, recent myocardial infarction, shock
- Hepatic insufficiency, acute alcohol intoxication, alcoholism
Precautions and Warning
- You may have low blood sugar level so pack a biscuit or juice with you to eat.
- Pregnancy and Lactation
- Caution should be used in renal impairment
- Patients with heart failure are more at risk of hypoxia and renal insufficiency. In patients with stable chronic heart failure, metformin may be used with a regular monitoring of cardiac and renal function.
- Aviod alcoholic drinks. It might increase your risk of lactic acidosis
- Intravascular administration of iodinated contrast agents may lead to contrast induced nephropathy, resulting in metformin accumulation and an increased risk of lactic acidosis. Metformin should be discontinued prior to or at the time of the imaging procedure.
- Metformin must be discontinued at the time of surgery under general, spinal or epidural anaesthesia.
- Consult with doctor if you are breastfeeding women or pregnant before taking this medicine.
