BENZEX-2 is brand name of Benzhexol HCl 2mg used for treatment of Parkinson’s disease. It’s also used to treat severe movement side effects caused by certain drugs (drug-induced movement disorder).
Therapeutic Class
Antiparkinsonian agent of the antimuscarinic class.
Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the tablet whole by mouth. You can take it in empty stomach. Don't crush, chew or break the tablet. Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.
Mode of Action
It is an anticholinergic medication. It works by decreasing the activity of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) in the brain. This improves muscle control and reduces stiffness in Parkinson's disease. It also improves movement disorder (restlessness, involuntary movements or muscle spasm) caused by certain other medicines.

Treatment of Parkinson's disease and drug induced abnormal movements
Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to this medicine
Precautions and Warning
- Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding woman before taking this medicine to understand the risk and benefit ratio.
- Talk to your doctor about past medical history like kidney problem or liver problem before taking this medicine
- Don't double the dose for the missed one.
- Complete the prescribed dose and duration of medicine. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.
- It may cause dizziness or drowsiness so avoid any activity that requires concentration unless you know how the medicine acts on you.
- Avoid drinking alcohol as it can worsen the side effects.
- It may cause dry eyes. Avoid wearing contact lenses and inform your doctor if it bothers you.
- Monitoring of intraocular pressure is required while taking this medicine, as an increase in eye pressure may cause blurry vision.
- Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
