AMX 250 is brand name of Amoxicillin 250mg. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is effective in infections of the throat, ear, nasal sinuses, respiratory tract (e.g., pneumonia), urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and typhoid fever.eliminate a bacteria known as H. pylori in people with peptic ulcer disease. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that fights and stops the growth of many types of bacteria. This medicine is best taken with a meal to reduce the chance of a stomach upset.

Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the capsule whole by mouth. You can take it with or without food but it is better to take at a fixed time. Don't crush, chew or break the capsule. Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.
Mode of Action
Amoxicillin is in the class of beta-lactam antimicrobials. Beta-lactams act by binding to penicillin-binding proteins that inhibit a process called transpeptidation (cross-linking process in cell wall synthesis), leading to activation of autolytic enzymes in the bacterial cell wall.
Uses
Bacterial Infections of the blood, brain, lungs, bones, joints, urinary tract, stomach and intestines and also to treat gum ulcers and other dental infections (abscesses), leg ulcers and pressure sores.
Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to this medicine
Precautions and Warning
- Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding woman before taking this medicine to understand the risk and benefit ratio.
- Talk to your doctor about past medical history like kidney problem, heart problem or liver problem before taking this medicine
- Don't double the dose for the missed one.
- Complete the prescribed dose and duration of medicine. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.
- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect.
- Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.
