Dr. Bijoy G Rajbanshi is the Principal Consultant & Head of the Department of Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery at Nepal Mediciti. He has done his MBBS in Medicine from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India, and his MS in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases, B.S.M Medical University Dhaka, Bangladesh. He went on to do his Clinical Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota USA. From there he moved to Yale University School of Medicine at New Haven, Connecticut, USA to do an advanced Clinical Fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery with specialized practice in Aortic and Endovascular surgery. Previously he was working as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre. He was also the Coordinator in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and an Editor in Chief in the Annual Journal of the Institute. He has multiple publications in well renown international journals for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and national heart journal, including authorship in a chapter in text book for heart valve disease and Aortic Disease.
His Special interests include Adult Cardiac Surgery, Surgery of Aorta, including in Infants and children, mitral valve repair and Minimal Invasive Surgery.
Presently he serves as the General Secretary of Cardiac Society of Nepal & has been actively involved in conducting educational programs in Nepal in collaboration with Mayo Clinic & several prestigious institutes from US, Europe & South East Asia. He presently serves as the Vice President of Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology and is also the Council member for Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia.
